Product Description
Our proprietary formula is used in Black Out to create a stunning mirrored effect on your pond or lake throughout the year. Originally popular on golf course ponds, black pond dye was favored by golf superintendents looking to enhance the meticulously maintained greens around the waterways. Now, black pond dye is gaining popularity among private pond owners as well.
We recommend taking a photo of your pond before applying the dye, and another photo at the same time of day 24-48 hours after application. It's incredible to see how a simple dye can completely transform the look of your water body.
It's important to note that all ponds will react differently to dye, and the same dye may look slightly different from one application to the next in the same pond. Existing conditions in your pond can also impact the appearance of the dye. If the color of the dye appears drastically different than expected, there may be a preexisting condition in your pond altering the color.
Is pond dye safe for fish?
Yes, our product is safe for livestock, recreational activities, potable water, and is not harmful to fish when used according to the label directions.
How often should I use pond dye?
Pond dye should be applied approximately every 30 days, or when you notice the color fading. Factors like heavy rainfall or extreme temperatures may require more frequent applications.
How do I apply the product?
Simply pour the dye into the pond along the shore or from a slowly moving boat. Be cautious as the dye is concentrated and can stain rocks and docks, so apply away from these areas. The dye will mix throughout the pond within 24 hours.
How much product should I use?
One gallon of pond dye will treat one acre with an average depth of 4-6 feet.
How do I clean up a spill?
Do not add water to the spill. Use an oil absorbent to soak up the product, then dispose of the soiled absorbent in a trash bag to prevent spreading. Clean any remaining residue with a 50/50 bleach/water mixture. Avoid contact with eyes and use bleach and water to clean your hands.
Formulated for use with:
